At MCRT the Punch Carpenter performs a variety of skilled tasks involving physical labor at high density residential and mixed use construction projects. The position will report to the project Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. The position will be responsible for building, maintaining and repairing various components of work in place during all phases of construction.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Assist in building various forms of structures for residential construction sites.
  • Participate in demolitions and reconstruction tasks.
  • Provides layouts, positions, joins, aligns, and seals various forms of components such as concrete, wood and metal wall sections and pipes.
  • Erect temporary structures and scaffolding.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials from trucks.
  • Mix and pour concrete.
  • Pump concrete, grout, cement, sand, or plaster.
  • Use spray guns for application of material to ceilings or walls.
  • Build and install traffic control devices and assist in providing traffic control.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Operate laser guidance equipment to place for various scopes of work.
  • Operate air, electric and pneumatic drills.
  • Operate pavement breakers, jackhammers, earth tampers; concrete, mortar, and plaster mixers.
  • Use hand tools to cut and shape material as per instructions.
  • Check work in place, create punch lists and assist in performing corrective work of all types.
  • Inspect residential units prior to final turnover to ownership and perform various forms of punch touch-up work required to meet Company quality control standards.
  • Participates in the ownership product inspection and product turnover process.
  • Assist and support other MCRT team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Construction experience preferred.


Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Ensure work is completed according to measurements, specifications, drawings, plans or other production materials/instructions.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are strictly followed including but not limited to safe lifting, and personal protective equipment.
  • Proactively communicates issues and problems that may or are affecting completion of the job to the responsible Project Manager.
  • Ability to communicate in, write and read English.
  • Ability to read blueprints is a plus
