Job Description
This position is central to the missionaries' role to 'Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.' Curriculum Specialists are are support, entry level, individual contributors that ensure the development and growth of new missionaries through curriculum development and educational advancement in language curriculum. Specialists support the organization and coordination of department operations, procedures, and resources to support curriculum pilots and projects and facilitate organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Typically, work is spread out amongst a team.

Responsibilities
Reports to Mgr, Curriculum 2
- Under the direction of the Curriculum Manager, helps to create, modify and improve curriculum resources for missionaries and teachers
- Analyzes and evaluates curriculum materials and provide insight and feedback to create new or refine existing resources
- Coordinates pilot and project logistics and needs
- Performs formative and summative evaluation of learning experiences and products
- Collects, tracks and maintains data including data entry, filing, copying, scanning, and creating and managing spreadsheets.
- Develops tools to help gather data on the impact of pilot efforts and to help track our effectiveness and efficiency
- Prepares and participates in focus groups, as a facilitator and/or note taker, and synthesizes key takeaways
- Teaches and/or trains pilot participants (missionaries, teachers and others) on curriculum approaches and accompanying resources
- Communicates regularly with Language Curriculum Managers on the progress of curriculum projects.
- Assists in maintaining missionary-facing documents, adjustments to curriculum content on MTC Tools, and calendar event updates.
- Organizes translated materials, recordings, video clips and demonstrations and cuts clips into in-house training videos.
- Tracks iteration versions of curriculum materials.
- May include other temporary assigned duties at the MTC (e.g. assisting with Mission Leadership Seminar)
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year of experience (combined) in any of the following: teaching, training, developing curriculum, linguistics, evaluation, or instructional design
- Detail-oriented, creative, analytical, able to work well with ambiguity, and under pressure
- Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proficient in specified language if hired for Language Curriculum
- Proactive and able to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Work effectively in a team-related environment, with or without supervision and with others from across MTC departments
- High aptitude for experience learning, and successfully using new software applications
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing (in English and second language for Language Curriculum position)
- Ability to cooperate, and to give and accept feedback from others
- Willingness to give and follow directions
- Willingness to receive training from MTC Curriculum Managers and Training Managers
- Very knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and GoogleDocs (Word and Excel)
- To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using monitors/equipment.
- Experience working on teaching curriculum
- Previous experience as an MTC teacher
- Knowledge of MTC processes and policies
- Some training or experience in video editing
- Experience using some form of project management software
