Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy. The Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) is seeking a detailed oriented and experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team. In this critical role, you will perform on-site inspections, verify quality control, and ensure compliance with engineering and regulatory standards. This role is essential to our quality assurance efforts, requiring expert knowledge of welding processes, codes, and inspection techniques.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

This role is essential to our quality assurance efforts, requiring expert knowledge of welding processes, codes, and inspection techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site, code-based welding inspection (AWS - American Welding Society, ASME - American Society of Mechanical Engineers, etc.)
- Write daily reports summarizing inspection and acceptance/rejection of weldments.
- Assist our customers with welding and quality issues ensuring project requirements and weld products consistently meet both internal standards and customer specifications.
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
- Possess a current Certified Welding Instructor (CWI) Certificate issued by the American Welding Society (AWS) and at least 5 years relevant field experience.
- Use expert knowledge of welding processes, codes, and inspection techniques to perform on-site inspections.
- Must be able to read, write, and follow written and/or verbal instruction.
- Must be able to perform clear, accurate, and professional report writing.
- Able to manage working at multiple sites - the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada) and the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
