The Opportunity

The Director of Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning is a mission-critical leadership role responsible for shaping and executing Ascentria’s enterprise-wide talent acquisition strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, this leader will serve as both a strategic business partner to our Senior Care Services and Community Care divisions, and a hands-on driver of innovative, value-driven recruitment practices.

This role combines enterprise strategy, operational excellence, and people's leadership, overseeing and developing a team of five recruiters to deliver exceptional talent outcomes across the organization. The Senior Director will collaborate closely with senior leaders to ensure Ascentria attracts, engages, and retains top talent who are deeply aligned with our mission and culture of care.

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Talent Acquisition Leadership

  • Designs and leads the enterprise recruitment strategy aligned with Ascentria’s mission and growth.
  • Builds a strong employer brand and talent pipeline across senior care (nursing homes, assisted/independent living) and community services.
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment process, ensuring that well-qualified candidates are hired promptly and efficiently to meet organizational needs. Supports leaders and hiring managers in identifying staffing needs and translating those needs into viable job descriptions to establish new positions or modify existing roles.
  • Partners with HR Compensation staff and hiring managers to ensure that candidates are hired within established pay ranges.
  • Recommends recruitment-related policies and practices to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Ensure recruitment activities align with organizational culture, equity standards, and retention priorities.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the daily operations of the recruitment function, including ATS administration, backgrounding, referencing platforms, dashboard reporting, compliance monitoring, and process management.
  • Develops innovative sourcing strategies, including Boolean search, social media, and passive candidate outreach.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with colleges, universities, technical schools, and community organizations to create long-term pipelines and internships.
  • Ensures candidate experience is exceptional, transparent, and consistent with Ascentria’s values.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Leads, coaches, and develops a recruitment team of 5+ professionals, providing mentoring and training on strategy, compliance, ATS, and onboarding.
  • Trains and influences hiring managers on full-cycle recruitment, interview best practices, and equity in hiring decisions.
  • Cultivates a collaborative, high-performing team environment that drives continuous improvement.

Culture, Retention & Compliance

  • Serves as a strategic partner to HR Business Partners in driving culture, engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Ensures all recruitment activities comply with state regulations, licensing boards, payors, and contracted entity requirements.
  • Participates in HR leadership meetings, special projects, and enterprise-wide initiatives to elevate workforce strategy.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Represents the recruitment function as a member of the Leadership Council.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief People Officer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directs, hires, and develops the recruitment team to deliver best-in-class outcomes.
  • Provides timely coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensures communication, training, and resources are in place for staff to succeed.
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, inclusion, collaboration, and strong customer service.

Qualifications –

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and a minimum of 5+ years of recruitment and/or HR experience and must have minimum of 3 years' experience supervising recruitment staff.
  • Proven ability to design and execute creative sourcing strategies (social media, networking, and passive candidate outreach).
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive hiring practices and advancing workforce equity.
  • Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (UKG, Dayforce Recruiting preferred).
  • Solid understanding of employment laws and compliance practices.
  • Strong decision-making and judgment skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships across multiple levels and functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to travel (25% of the time) to Ascentria offices, senior care facilities, and recruitment events across New England (must have reliable, accessible transportation).
