Waystone Health and Human Services is seeking a Director of People & Culture to shape Waystone’s workplace experience and lead efforts that strengthen and support our core values for both union and non-union staff. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you’ll oversee a team of three and lead strategic initiatives in employee relations and engagement.

Location: 22 Parkridge Road, Haverhill, MA 01835

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30am –4:30pm

Compensation range: This is a 40-hour exempt full time position. Starting salary is $100,000 - $120,000, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance on employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, coaching, and policy interpretation.
  • Lead performance management efforts, including guiding managers through warnings, performance improvement plans, and other employee communications.
  • Facilitate staff training on HR best practices, employee conduct, and positive workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with CHRO to analyze employee relations data and continuously improve policies, training, and HR processes.
  • Create avenues for employee input and feedback via talent management surveys and engagement initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of performance evaluation systems and total rewards strategies.

Other Responsibilities

  • Use HRIS systems (e.g., Paycom) to maintain data integrity and streamline HR operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and internal HR policies.
  • Oversee cyclical HR activities including the renewal process, open enrollment, and other special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Human Resources or related field; Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years in progressive HR, including 3+ years in senior or advisory roles centered on employee relations.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience in nonprofit and unionized settings is a plus.
  • Track record leading complex investigations and delivering manager training.
  • Solid knowledge of federal/state employment law and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms; Paycom preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated social intelligence, tact, empathy, respect, and patience
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with proactive and inclusive messaging.
