Job Description Summary

Coordinator for TRIO, Student Support Services STEM provides comprehensive academic guidance to help students plan their educational pathways, develop skills for academic success, and access campus resources and services that support persistence, achievement, and completion of their goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling or related fields.

Three (3) years of experience with academic advising, academic assessment, study skills development, and designing a Student Success Plan.

Three (3) years of experience implementing academic and career planning workshops and educational programs for students.

Experience working with faculty, advisors, and administrators in higher education.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of academic and career exploration and goal setting

Knowledge of college admission and transfer requirements and financial aid programs.

Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and best practices affecting student rights and privacy and data collection and reporting requirements.

Ability to provide educational guidance to students

Ability to manage multiple, competing task and prioritize projects in a complex environment while maintaining attention to details.

Ability to adapt to constant changes and develop new initiatives.

Ability to exercise sound judgment, exhibit resiliency under pressure, set priorities, achieve goals, assess complex situations, render fair judgments, and maintain strong ethical and professional standards.

Ability to engage in effective conflict resolution.

Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.

Knowledge of Federal TRIO grant program regulations.

Experience supporting low-income, first generation college students as well as students with disabilities.

Experience supporting students pursuing majors in STEM and health-related fields.

Experience of student management systems such as Ellucian Colleague, CIVITAS Learning, and Blumen.

Provides financial literacy support by educating students on financial and economic concepts, guiding them through the full range of student financial aid programs and resources, assisting with scholarship opportunities, and offering support in completing financial aid applications

Job Duty

Recruits and selects eligible program participants, ensures compliance with federal eligibility documentation requirements, monitors student progress, maintains accurate records, and prepares reports to support grant accountability and institutional reporting

Job Duty

Provides individualized educational and career planning guidance, offering activities and instruction that introduce students to diverse career pathways, expand exposure to academic opportunities not typically accessible, and foster growth through mentoring support.

Job Duty

Designs, implements, and evaluates student success plans, including academic assessments, tutoring, and study skills development, and facilitates workshops to support student persistence and success.
