Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate dialysis machines, ensuring proper functioning and trouble shoot machine issues when necessary while following safety protocols
- Initialization and Termination of dialysis treatment via AVG and/or AVF under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Capable of checking the water system for Chlorine/Chloramine
- Capable of checking the water system as per re-established parameters and will report any deviations to the charge nurse
- Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to mix and transfer Bicarbonate in the central delivery system
- Disinfection of Bicarbonate Tank and Hemodialysis Machine
- Checking the water system for the Chlorine/Chloramine
- Ensuring the enforcement of all policies and procedures including patient's bill of rights
- Have knowledge of emergency procedures. Able to function in an emergency situation under the director of the person in charge:
- Understand CPR protocols, and can assist during an emergency situation
- Communicate information regarding the patient’s condition to the MD, RN, LPN
- Monitor patients throughout dialysis treatments, checking vital signs and ensuring comfort and well-being.
- Administer prescribed treatments such as dialysis, administering medications, and documenting all treatment processes.
- Assist in patient assessments by collecting and recording relevant medical history and data before dialysis sessions.
- Provide patient education on dialysis procedures, diet, and lifestyle changes to help manage kidney disease.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including vital signs, treatment progress, and any complications.
- Ensure sterile techniques and infection control procedures are followed at all times.
- Work closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients.
- Keep the Nurse Manager or charge nurse informed of the the operational status of all equipment on an on-going basis
- Respect the confidentiality of all patients
- Maintain a professional and functional attitude with co-workers in the presence of the patients and others
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Dialysis Technician Certification by a state certified program and national commercially available certification program required.
- CPR required
- Previous experience in a dialysis setting required
- Knowledge of dialysis equipment, treatments, and patient care protocols.
- Strong understanding of infection control and safety standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations with patience and professionalism.
