Job Overview

Implement assigned marketing programs to increase business revenue while maintaining margin goals, maintains accounts, and interacts primarily utilizing the phone and other forms of electronic communication to a broad scope of new and existing customers within a specified region to increase sales of products. Utilizes marketing programs to achieve increased sales and profitability. This is a highly solution driven role handling customer account relationships.

The role will require a highly responsive service orientation in all transactions. The Customer Experience Program Sales Specialist must be resilient and positive in difficult situations.

Responsibilities

  • Contact customers through, but not limited to, phone calls, email, mailings, fax and seminars to communicate opportunities to extend initiatives with the company
  • Maintain broad knowledge of competitive markets and sales techniques
  • Match programs to customer requirements, and close contracts for defined programs
  • Collaborate with merchandising, directly with store owners and decisions makers, account management, Demand Planning, and Customer Experience team to facilitate new programs, messages, campaigns, and offerings
  • Enhance existing relationships to achieve sales goals for the assigned accounts/territory
  • Strategize with team members to innovate & improve the overall customer experience
  • Work internally with other departments to ensure proper quality and quantity of offered deals to the customer
  • Exercise administrative responsibility including reporting, UNFI Business Systems and Technologies
  • Ensure communication is frequent and bi-directional. Build partnerships with assigned Regional Merchandising team to fuel the program as well as partner with supervisor to enhance strategies for customer experience.
  • Maintain and grow customer relationships
  • Manage customer demand and expectations accurately, meeting required SLA
  • Facilitate and expedite the resolution of customer issues
  • Work with UNFI specific software to complete the tasks of deal entry, order entry, and exporting reporting (including call cards)
  • Follow processes, develops and updates procedures; provides fast, consistent, and reliable experience
  • Reviews information/data and makes decisions within well-defined guidelines, parameters and instruction
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education/ Certifications/Experience:

  • Associates degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a sales or sales support role. Customer service experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Very strong work ethic with confidence to work autonomously
  • Highly motivated to succeed on both an individual and team level working towards a common goal for the customer
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Remote Role

  • This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
  • Travel (minor): This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.
