Operating 4 donor centers and conducting dozens of blood drives each month, we are proud to be an independent nonprofit that supplies over 20 area hospitals and clinics with life-saving blood—from our community, for our community.
Summary
This entry level position performs routine manufacturing of blood components based on the capabilities of the site. This includes processing whole blood to create red blood cells and plasma products, processing apheresis red blood cells, special blood products and application of final product labels. The Tech I will be proficient in the proper use, maintenance, and quality control of processing equipment. The Tech I accurately and concurrently documents manufacturing records, strictly adheres to standard operating procedures and is competent in the usage of El Dorado Donor (EDD) and MasterControl (MC). All work processes are performed and documented according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and within the guidelines of accrediting organizations (FDA, AABB, Green Cross, CLIA, etc.).
Schedule Full-time, 40 hours per week. Variable schedule (Monday-Sunday) based on operational needs. Shifts may begin as early as 800 a.m. and, for later shifts, may extend until 830 p.m. Evening shifts typically occur on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Saturday availability (800 a.m.-430 p.m.) is required; Sunday availability is preferred.

Job Responsibilities
Component Laboratory Technician I responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Receive blood collections, fold blood bags
- Process blood collections
- Process research, source, and special blood products
- Proper use of laboratory equipment and reponse to alarms
- Obtain samples from blood components for quality testing
- Restock laboratory supplies
- Label blood products
- Understand good laboratory practice and cGMP requirements
- Proficient in the use of IBR computer systems
Education
