The IT Helpdesk role focuses on supporting team members (end users) through the help desk system. This role will learn the company’s best practices for providing user support and customer service on company-supported computer, network, server and telephony applications, and more. An IT Helpdesk employee will progressively increase his/her responsibilities to move to an IT Support Specialist role.

The IT Helpdesk role focuses on supporting team members (end users) through the help desk system. This role will learn the company’s best practices for providing user support and customer service on company-supported computer, network, server and telephony applications, and more. An IT Helpdesk employee will progressively increase his/her responsibilities to move to an IT Support Specialist role.
The Job
Work under the direction of IT department team members to:
- Prioritize and troubleshoot IT Help Desk requests using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Record all problems and their resolution in help desk ticketing system.
- Maintain computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, server hardware, network hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
- Submit training materials and instructions for new and updated software or hardware.
- Support and troubleshoot virtual desktop environments, including AWS Workspaces, as applicable.
- Perform general network and software preventative maintenance to ensure all IT systems remain secure and stable.
- Support the Office 365 platform to ensure email and communication systems remain online and secure.
- Monitor IT security risks and elevate concerns as applicable.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Assist in IT projects and support company-wide initiatives (e.g. training employees, software updates, and platform migrations).
- Be familiar with agency software solutions.
- Stay current with industry system information, changes and updates.
Qualifications Needed
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field is preferred.
- Comptia A+ or Google IT Support Professional Certificate is preferred).
- Related experience in troubleshooting and providing help desk support is required.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and follow through to completion.
- Skilled in time management, organization and providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Knowledge of computers and applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software, including but not limited to agency management systems, spreadsheets, databases, scanning tools, and email attachments.
