Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARYThe Senior Buyer is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by coordinating the procurement of goods and services for the organization, ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and the implementation of procurement processes in alignment with company goals.
LOCATIONThis position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to reduce costs and improve quality and service.
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and supplier's reputation and history.
- Negotiate contract terms, delivery times, and pricing with suppliers and vendors to ensure optimal value.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess current and future material availability and pricing trends.
- Prepare requests for quotation, consult with suppliers, and evaluate quotations prior to initiating a formal agreement.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure continued cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, production, operations, finance, etc.) to understand material and service requirements.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, procurement policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.
- Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
- Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
- Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.

- Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including additional and/or different hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed, to best serve the business operations.
At a minimum, the Senior Buyer must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, or economics, or equivalent field of study, along with 5+ years of proven, progressive, procurement and customer service principles and practices experience or a high school diploma, or equivalent, along with 9+ years of proven, progressive, procurement and customer service principles and practices experience. Experience and working knowledge of Disadvantage Business Enterprises (DBE) is highly preferred.
