Description

Job Title: Manager, Off-Road Race Team

Department: Off-Road Race Team

Reports To: Director of Off-Road Racing

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Murrieta, CA

Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Off-Road Race Team Manager is responsible for management of all activities within the Off-Road Racing program, including, but not limited to, overseeing all activities related to team race performance, race event scheduling, rider contracts, staffing, sponsorships, budget, and general administration actions.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversees all activities related to team race performance, race event scheduling, rider contracts, staffing, budgeting, sponsorships, and general administration actions.
  • Ability to evaluate the rider and his/her performance
  • Plans for future company race needs and requirements.
  • Plans for and ensures that appropriate resources are available to meet the company business plans, goals, and market demands.
  • Liaises with Racing Director for ongoing coordination of racing strategies and direction.
  • Provides direction to race team members.
  • Plans and makes travel arrangements for the race team.
  • Schedules employee activities to maximize efficiency and meet race team service demands.
  • Monitors and adjusts to budget requirements while maximizing race success opportunities.
  • Assists in scheduling safety and performance training.
  • Plans for and orders resources and training to meet rider technical service and product needs.
  • Responsible for supervisory duties including hiring, firing, scheduling, timecard approvals, performance evaluations, coaching, training, disciplinary actions, task assignment, goal setting and team meetings/communications. Active coordination of departmental meetings and organization of supporting documents for discussions.
  • Acts as Team’s main point of contact with outside parties like race promoters, sponsors and media. Builds relationships and regularly communicates with press and media in-person, via phone, and via email and other written communications.
  • Monitors and reports Company image status to management.
  • Ensure that the brand is represented at the highest level of quality during race events including race display, employee conduct, and employee appearance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Generally requires a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years in race team environment, preferably at a manager/supervisory level. Required knowledge of motorcycle industry, technologies, regulations and performance issues. Required proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Valid motorcycle license required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma required. Advanced degree in business or technical related field preferred.

JUDGEMENT/REASONING ABILITY: Ability to recognize discrepancies and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Requires ability to use judgment and reasoning skills and determine when issues need to be escalated.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise in the work environment is usually moderate. Other factors are:

  • Ability to travel if needed. Travel is extensive in this position.

  • Indoor environment while at office; professional, yet casual work environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours as required
