Position Summary

The People Support Mentor position serves as a trusted advisor to People Resources Division leadership, organization leaders, and employees by aligning business objectives with management and employees across designated business units.

This role formulates partnerships across the People Resources Division to deliver value-added services that support organization and territory goals, while maintaining strong business literacy regarding each unit’s financial position, mid-range plans, culture, and engagement.

The People Support Mentor leads the routine functions of the People Support Specialists at the territory level, also acting as a culture ambassador to foster a positive workplace culture and ensure alignment with best practices and legal requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, and trains People Support Territory staff
  • Oversees the daily workflow of Territory People Support Departments
  • Provides constructive feedback and conducts timely coaching sessions with direct reports
  • Handles career changes, progressive discipline, and termination of employees in accordance with Company policy
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to territory management
  • Trains People Support Specialists and manages processes that result in accurate and up-to-date people files, records, and documentation

Job Responsibilities/Essential Duties

  • Establish trusted, collaborative, and responsive relationships with leaders across the organization, understanding their strategies, priorities, and goals to shape impactful HR programs and priorities that align with Power’s core values.
  • Manage key HR activities including workforce planning, employee engagement, talent management with measurable outcomes in mind.
  • Manage the integrity and confidentiality of human resources files and records
  • Partners with People Leadership (People Partner, Senior Director People Resources, and VP People Resources) to align People processes and practices with organizational objectives and foster cross-functional collaboration
  • Coach and develop leaders to strengthen their management and leadership skills, fostering high-performing and collaborative teams.
  • Implement and manage performance management programs that align with Power’s high-performance culture, driving accountability and growth.
  • Collaborate across People Business Unit to implement tailored HR programs that address dynamic organizational needs and priorities.
  • Continuously assess and enhance culture and engagement by identifying and implementing solutions that improve engagement, reinforce organizational values, and build a thriving workplace.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives on an as-needed basis to drive organizational success.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to territory management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units and contributes to organizational projects and initiatives
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions and recommendations
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies and employment laws to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met
  • Plans, communicates, and facilitates new hire orientation
  • HRIS (Nitro) processing errors: Hire, Change Job, Term
  • Handles employment related inquiries for applicants, employees, and managers; referring complex and/or sensitive matters to appropriate staff
  • Support initiatives aimed at enhancing organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Strong ability to build business acumen to drive effective HR collaboration
  • Strong ability to manage change and guide others through it
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Apple iWork Suite
  • Proficient with the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS) and similar computer applications

Education And Experience

  • 4-6 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Required Licenses And Certifications

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) preferred

Work Environment

  • This position works in an office environment and not a remote position
  • Moderate travel may be required
