As a Senior Applications Engineer at MKS Instruments, you will partner with New Product Development, Engineering, Sales, and Customers to provide business development, sales, product, and application expertise to create technical solutions that meet customer requirements through hardware and software development and problem resolution. In this role, you will report to the Applications Engineering Manager.

Salary Pay Range: $100,000 – 155,000 qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].

As a Senior Applications Engineer at MKS Instruments, you will partner with New Product Development, Engineering, Sales, and Customers to provide business development, sales, product, and application expertise to create technical solutions that meet customer requirements through hardware and software development and problem resolution. In this role, you will report to the Applications Engineering Manager.
You Make an Impact By:
- Providing both pre-sales and post-sales technical product marketing support for the development and implementation of customer applications dealing with complex products, such as operating systems and capital equipment
- Making technical presentations regarding all aspects of company products
- Assisting sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications
- Implementing detailed customer installation requirements
- Providing follow-up support in disseminating technical information on specific applications to service personnel, company sales representatives, and customer employees
- Collaborating with internal teams and external customers to drive technical innovation and business development
- Travel Requirements: Up to 20% of travel is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related engineering/science is required
- 8+ years of related experience and strong technical knowledge of company product
- Experience with analytical and process instrumentation or similar
- Experience with software development and industrial communication protocols or similiar
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on a team of various backgrounds and skillsets
- Background in RF generators, vacuum physics, semiconductor or thin-film processing
- Demonstrated experience in optimizing plasma etch processes and understanding RF power
- Excellent customer interaction and internal team collaboration skills
- PCB design
- Ability to take and follow directions and instructions.
- Ability to interact with other employees, customers, suppliers, vendors, or the public, in a safe, professional, and respectful manner.
- Access to sensitive and confidential business systems and software, personally identifying information, the company’s financial information, and/or the ability to maintain physical security and safety.
- Because this position involves the above material job duties, trustworthiness, reliability, and good judgment also are material job duties.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- This is a laboratory, office environment
- Must have high manual dexterity
- Noise level in the work environment is usually average
