Position Information
The City of Pittsburg seeks to fill one vacancy for MAINTENANCE WORKER I in Sewer/Water Utilities for the Public Works Department.
The Maintenance Worker – Sewer/Water Utilities performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, repair, and maintenance of the City’s water and sewer systems, storm conduits, and related infrastructure. This position involves both field and equipment work and requires the ability to respond to emergency calls as needed.

About The Public Works Department
The Public Works Department is responsible maintenance of the City streets, streetlights, traffic signals, sewers, storm drains, building, fleet equipment, marina/harbor and the water distribution system including water meter reading and water service connections. The Maintenance Worker I will be trained to perform semi-skilled tasks supporting the construction and maintenance of the City's Utilities and Facilities operations in the assigned area such as stormwater, streets/concrete, sewer, and meter/backflow. Other duties include ensuring the safety of equipment through routine maintenance checks, interacting with City staff and the public, and identifying safety and health hazards. We are looking to fill two vacancies in the Water Distribution Maintenance Division which maintains and performs scheduled and emergency repairs on water mains, isolation valves, customer service lines and meters, and fire hydrants.

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One (1) year of applicable experience in construction, maintenance or related work.
