St. Joseph’s Center, a mission-driven organization dedicated to serving individuals with intellectual disabilities, is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources to help lead and advance our people strategy across all locations.
This full-time, salaried position supports the Director of Human Resources in overseeing all aspects of HR operations, including employee relations, talent management, compliance, benefits, compensation, and workforce development. The Assistant Director will supervise and mentor HR staff, foster a collaborative and high-performing team, and ensure HR programs align with the agency’s mission and values.

What You'll Do
- Supervise, mentor, and support HR staff across all locations.
- Collaborate with the Director of HR to set departmental goals and align with organizational objectives.
- Serve as a resource for managers and employees on employee relations, benefits, and policy interpretation.
- Oversee recruitment and retention strategies to attract and retain mission-aligned employees.
- Support performance evaluation processes and coach supervisors on effective feedback.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.).
- Assist in developing and communicating HR policies and procedures.
- Oversee HRIS accuracy and reporting for data-driven decision-making.
- Support workforce planning, succession initiatives, and professional development programs.
- Conduct investigations, exit interviews, and recommend corrective actions.
- Represent HR in organizational meetings, committees, and community outreach.

What's Required Of You
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience.
- Experience in the nonprofit or human services sector strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of employment law, employee relations, and HR best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
