Position Summary
As a key member of our Finance team, the Controller oversees daily financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, compliance with GAAP, and strong internal controls. This role manages financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, treasury functions, and team leadership to maintain the organization's financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements
Education/Experience: CPA preferred; 5-7 years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, financial systems.
Advanced Excel skills, and spreadsheet analysis.

Position Summary
As a key member of our Finance team, the Controller oversees daily financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, compliance with GAAP, and strong internal controls. This role manages financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, treasury functions, and team leadership to maintain the organization's financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements and analyses for APA and EWTA.
- Investigate budget variances and provide actionable insights.
- Manage tax filings (State B&O, Canadian GST/QST, Tacoma City, property taxes, IRS Form 720).
- Lead annual budgeting process and monitor financial policies.
- Oversee cash flow, bank reconciliations, and credit card program.
- Supervise AP. AR. and payroll functions.
- Coordinate annual audits and compliance reviews.
- Support special program accounting and reimbursement claims.
- Validate ACH transactions and wire transfers.
- Provide backup for benefits administration and fleet management.
- Lead and develop accounting team; enforce internal controls.
- Execute special projects as assigned by the Treasurer.
Minimum Requirements
Education/Experience: CPA preferred; 5-7 years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, financial systems.
Advanced Excel skills, and spreadsheet analysis.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to interpret financial statements.
- Strong capability to calculate figures such as interest, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to interpret and apply government regulations, legal documents, and compliance standards.
- Ability to write clear reports, memos, and correspondence; effective oral communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Proven high level of accuracy in financial reporting and compliance tasks.
