JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO: Controller
STATUS: Exempt
SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant plays a vital part in the company’s financial management by compiling and analyzing various financial data. Offers recommendations for growth and improvement based on analyses. Provides financial assistance to executive leadership, directors, managers, and other staff. Assists the Controller with all areas of the accounting operations. Supports the organization by assuring compliance with federal, state and local protocols, as well as interpreting new and existing laws and regulations. Guides and leads other team members by answering questions and coordinating departmental procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience in information systems to ensure multiple information streams flow efficiently and correctly through varying systems such as the EMR, Microsoft Office Suite, payroll and accounting software.

OTHER SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, reporting, GAAP, and cost-control principles as well as federal, state, and local financial regulations. Leadership skills to design, implement and maintain projects across departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzes various financial data for discrepancies and growth opportunities.
- Creates all levels of financial reports using various reporting systems (accounting software, spreadsheets, payroll systems and EMR systems).
- Assists with development of, tracking, monitoring, reporting and draw down of funds for several federal, state and local grants, including monthly journal entries.
- Manages month end closing process, assuring journal entry information is complete and accurate, performs various account reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Records patient service revenue monthly and monitors the accounts receivable balance.
- Prepares weekly cash flow analysis.
- Assist with the annual budget development and periodic forecasts.
- Assist with annual financial audit, as well as other various audits.
- Assists with all required governmental reporting, including but not limited to quarterly and annual Federal Financial Reports, grant carry-overs, financial sections of UDS, Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports, and WIC financial reporting.
- Servers as senior level contact for other departments.
- Maintains confidentiality of all financial and payroll information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
