The Vice President of Finance will provide strategic leadership and oversight of VisionQuest’s financial operations, ensuring fiscal integrity, compliance, and alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives. This position directs all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, grants management, payroll, treasury, and risk management functions across all programs and corporate operations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the VP of Finance serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising on financial strategy, long-term planning, and organizational performance. The VP ensures that financial systems, controls, and processes are optimized for accuracy, transparency, and operational efficiency. This role promotes a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across all finance-related activities.

Essential Functions
- Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with the CFO and executive team to develop and execute VisionQuest’s financial strategy in support of growth, sustainability, and mission delivery.
- Provide high-level financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario modeling to guide organizational decisions.
- Lead long-term financial planning, investment strategy, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Financial Management and Oversight
- Direct the Finance Department, including Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Receivable/Payable, Treasury, Budgeting, and Risk Management.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all financial reporting, statements, and audit documentation.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Supervise the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts across all divisions and programs.
- Grants, Contracts, and Compliance
- Oversee financial compliance for all federal, state, and local grants and contracts, including adherence to Uniform Guidance and procurement regulations.
- Collaborate with the VP of Compliance and Program leadership to ensure sound fiscal stewardship and reporting accuracy for all funded initiatives.
- Support external audits, tax filings, and financial reporting requirements for grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
- Operational Excellence and Resource Optimization
- Develop and implement business processes and policies to enhance efficiency, accountability, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost-effectiveness and financial performance organization-wide.
- Provide guidance on financial implications of operational decisions and new program development.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team that delivers excellence in service and strategic partnership.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships to support collaborative planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Represent the Finance function in executive leadership discussions and board presentations.
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Demonstrates the ability to lead complex financial operations with vision and integrity.
- Analytical and Forward-Thinking: Applies data-driven insight to shape financial and organizational strategies.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensures adherence to all regulatory and organizational standards.
- Communication and Influence: Communicates complex financial data clearly to diverse audiences, including non-financial stakeholders.
- Organizational Agility: Balances strategic direction with operational execution in a dynamic, multi-state environment.
- Team Leadership: Builds, develops, and inspires high-performing finance professionals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree in Business Administration or Finance strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, including leadership of multi-department finance functions.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Experience with federal grants, contracts, and large-scale budgeting required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive
- May lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds infrequently.
- Performs tasks that may involve standing or walking 50% of the day, sitting 50% of the day.
- May bend, stoop, reach, and grasp as necessary. Occasional travel required to program sites and leadership meetings nationwide.
