Position Summary: Children’s Aid’s foster care program is prepared to deal with the widest range of child welfare situations—from temporary situations that allow birth families to address issues until they can be reunited, to specialized homes with highly trained foster parents for children who need constant care for chronic medical and developmental conditions, or children reacting to trauma.
This is an entry level Social Work role supporting our Foster Care Program(s), reporting to the designated Social Work Supervisor.
Essential Duties
Children’s Aid will conduct a prompt and thorough investigation of all allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or any violation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Policy in a confidential manner and will take appropriate corrective action, if and where warranted. Children’s Aid prohibits retaliation against employees who provide information about, complain about, or assist in the investigation of any complaint of discrimination or violation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Policy.
The incumbent is expected to work a schedule, whether in-person or hybrid, as determined by the department's needs to facilitate effective collaboration with the team. This flexibility is essential for maintaining seamless communication, fostering teamwork, and ensuring the smooth operation of the department's processes. The position's requirements are subject to periodic review and adjustment based on organizational needs and changes in work dynamics.

Essential Duties
- Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Work with a dynamic team of professionals in a progressive Foster Care program.
- Supervise and document family visits.
- Assist in handling service referrals for children and families.
- Escort children and parents to appointments.
- Complete filing.
- Attend case reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required—College degree preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
- Strong desire to work with children and families.
- Knowledge of the New York City child welfare system a plus.
- Excellent verbal, writing and organizational skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Flexible work schedule after 5 pm.
- Basic computer literacy.
