Job Title: Metal Finisher / Grinder Operator

Location: Newport News, VA

Job Type: Full-time | Contract-to-Hire

Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) or 3rd Shift (12:00 AM – 8:30 AM)

Pay: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour (based on experience)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Metal Finisher / Grinder Operator to prepare custom sheet metal fabricated parts and enclosures for powder coating. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with grinding, sanding, deburring, and preparing welded sheet metal products. This is a great opportunity to join a stable and growing team in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Grind, sand, debur, and polish sheet metal parts to prepare for coating
• Lift and position workpieces manually onto tables
• Use electric or pneumatic tools to remove weld marks or paint
• Select the appropriate sanding and grinding media for each job
• Transport materials using carts, pallet jacks, or by hand
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety protocols
• Complete additional general labor tasks as required
  
  
  

Requirements:

• Knowledge of metal finishing techniques
• Experience using hand and power tools (grinders, sanders, belt sanders)
• Familiarity with different types of metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminum)
• Ability to finish thin or light gauge sheet metal
• Must be able to lift 50–75 lbs and stand for the entire shift
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Safety-conscious with attention to detail
