Description
A Manufacturing Engineer is critical to improving production efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring product quality across our manufacturing operations. As production demand increases and product complexity grows, the need for dedicated engineering support becomes essential to maintain operational excellence and cost competitiveness
Essential Job Functions
- Process Design & Optimization: Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes for automotive components and assemblies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Production Support: Provide daily engineering support to manufacturing teams to resolve process, tooling, and equipment issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve productivity, reduce cost, and enhance product quality.
- Tooling & Equipment: Design, specify, and procure tools, jigs, fixtures, and special equipment needed for production. Work closely with maintenance and suppliers to ensure reliability.
- New Product Launches: Support APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and validation activities for new model introductions.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure that process control plans and work instructions are properly maintained.
- Data & Performance Analysis: Use statistical methods and manufacturing KPIs (e.g., OEE, scrap rate, downtime) to identify improvement opportunities.
- Safety: Promote and maintain safe working conditions in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with production teams to ensure smooth operations and product manufacturability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
- 3-5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
- Excellent communication, both oral and written. Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone, email and written means
- Ability to identify, train and lead high performance teams to successful outcomes
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to multi-task while ensuring follow up and follow through on required tasks
- High degree of organization and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Intermediate or higher skills with computer applications (Word, Excel, Project Management, etc.)
- Lifting requirements: 5 – 75 lbs.
- Requires minor to moderate level of physical activity
