This position offers a structured and balanced schedule—Monday through Friday clinic hours, with one Saturday per month. The inclusion of a Saturday clinic ensures that physicians are not required to take on-call duties, providing a predictable and manageable work-life integration.
This role is ideal for a motivated physician interested in delivering high quality care in a collaborative and caring environment. This position does not include faculty appointments.
Minimum Qualifications: Unrestricted CA medical license and DEA license; MD or DO, board certified or eligible in specialty area.
Key Responsibilities
The Division of Hematology Oncology is one of 14 divisions in the Department of Internal Medicine, in the School of Medicine, at UC Davis Health. Hematology Oncology includes approximately 35 faculty (physician and research), seven MSP physicians, 13 advanced practice providers and other clinical staff, 25 research staff and nine administrative/ financial staff. Division ambulatory clinical services are located in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center in Sacramento, C Street Clinic in Sacramento, the Placer Health Center in Rocklin and the new Cancer Clinic in Folsom.
Department Specific Job Scope
During the day, the physician will see patients in the clinic and evaluate and initiate therapy for those patients. The physician will be scheduled in person for six half-days/week outpatient clinic and one half-day/week (based on patient demand) virtual visits at Folsom Center for Health (or hybrid if there isn’t sufficient patient demand for a full half-day of video visits). Additionally, the physician will be scheduled one half-day/week at UCDCCC. On average, the physician may see four to eight patients per four-hour clinic session (expectation is one new patient and six follow up patients per half-day, which may start as four new patients per half-day and could be eight follow up patients per half-day as the practice is established).
The Folsom Center for Health and UCDCCC are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, during which time, the physician is expected to be on-site and available for patients during his/her scheduled clinic activities. The physician's time will be allocated as 100% clinical effort (this includes time needed for completion of medical records, timely follow-up messages, and care coordination) The physician will have two half-days/week of administrative/non-patient facing time.
Additionally, the physician will see patients at Folsom Center for Health 10 to 12 full-day Saturdays/year, with two consecutive four-hour sessions on the same Saturday.
