SFE Engineering is a leading New York City–based consulting firm focused on building energy performance, compliance, and sustainability. We work closely with building owners, design professionals, and public agencies to optimize energy use and ensure full regulatory compliance. We’re looking for a motivated Energy Modeler with 1–2 years of relevant experience to join our growing team. This role offers the chance to contribute directly to projects that shape New York City’s clean-energy future and support its ambitious climate and efficiency initiatives

Responsibilities

• Build and fine-tune comprehensive energy models using eQuest software
• Conduct simulations in accordance with ASHRAE standards and NYCECC code requirements
• Evaluate building system performance and recommend strategies for improved energy efficiency
• Coordinate with the DOB and design teams to resolve review comments and secure timely approvals
• Produce well-organized, detailed reports and summaries for clients and regulatory submissions
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Building Science, or a related discipline
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience developing energy models using eQuest
• Working knowledge of NYC Energy Code, LEED certification processes, and ASHRAE standards
• Proficiency in Excel, AutoCAD, and interpreting building system drawings
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
