Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for maintaining student records, Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data, and attendance at the campus level. Process student enrollment, transfers, and withdrawals for the campus.

Essential Functions

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Show evidence of commitment to the McKinney ISD technology goals and objectives.
  • Enter, maintain, and compile student attendance data and generate reports of student absenteeism.
  • Answer incoming calls.
  • Contact home by telephone to ascertain reasons for student absences, and perform receptionist duties in the attendance office.
  • Compile and maintain student demographic data for school attendance reports (PEIMS).
  • Generate weekly and periodic student membership reports for the campus.
  • Communicate with and assist staff in matters of student attendance or as may be required by the principal.
  • Support and carry out activities adopted by the campus to promote student attendance.
  • Interact with student, parents, and staff on student attendance to promote a positive attitude on the part of all concerned toward the role of the school.
  • Carry out registration and withdrawal procedures.
  • Send and copy transfer records to schools as requested.
  • Responsible for maintaining student records at the campus level.
  • Process student enrollment, transfers, and withdrawals.
  • Transcription of high school credits taken in middle school.
  • Responsible for all PEIMS coding reportable to the state.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the principal.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; occasional use of specialized equipment, as appropriate

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; prolonged use of computers; exposure to computer emissions

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to operate and learn new technology systems; work under the pressure of deadlines, and in shared office space

Other: Work as a team member and with peers, teachers, campus personnel and principals; professional demeanor, resourcefulness, communicate effectively with diverse groups and accept supervision; work without day-to-day supervision; regular and punctual attendance at the workplace.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluations.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Experience

One to three years of clerical experience preferred

Requirements

Education / Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge and Skills

Ability to perform accurate and effective accounting with numerical data

Ability to use computer for data entry, retrieval, and campus reports

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
