Job Summary:

The MSI Equipment Operator loads and drives 6x6 spreader trucks from the loading facility to approved farm fields and land-applies biosolids or lime-alum residuals at a specific rate.

Responsibilities:
  • Operation of heavy equipment to include rubber-tire, articulating front-end loader to load biosolids and lime byproducts into a truck-mounted 20 cubic yard side-discharge manure spreader. 
  • Operate all-wheel drive, tandem-axle spreader trucks to land-apply biosolids and lime byproducts to farmland at specific agronomic rates. 
  • Perform general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep on all equipment utilized.
  • Load, secure, and haul heavy equipment to work sites within the state of Georgia.
  • Transport heavy equipment through the Atlanta-metro area on the interstate system.
  • Operate power tools, chainsaws, etc.
  • Maintain daily log sheets for written documentation of work performed and material used.
  • Work out of town, nonconsecutively, for 8-12 weeks per year while being home on weekends.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License with a Class “A” CDL, without “Z” Restriction.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ Class “A” CDL experience with a clean driving record.
  • Provable proficiency in operating commercial vehicles with a 10-speed manual transmission.
  • Ability to load, secure, and transport heavy equipment.
  • Working knowledge of equipment and methods used in farm-related operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 

 

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds and carry 50 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, sitting.
  • Occasionally crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
  • Physical strength and endurance to perform manual labor for extended periods, possibly under adverse weather and working conditions.
  • Ability to grasp and hold.

 

 

Environmental Working Conditions:

  • The position requires some exposure to working outside, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants, and possibly reptiles.
  • Frequent exposure to dry conditions, high and low humidity, wetness, and inclement weather.
  • Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic)
  • Occasional exposure to working over water or working at heights
  • Exposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar
