Validation Engineer

                                                Purpose:
This role is responsible for lab facilities, testing, scheduling, maintenance and reports for DV/PV testing on braking components such as calipers, EMB and IDB.
Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
- Collaborate with Design and Applications Engineers to understand product requirements, validation tests, and methods, ensuring HL Mando has the necessary resources to complete required testing.
- Support testing activities by confirming due dates with Application Engineering and assisting in maintaining schedules with Technicians.
- Determine gaps between new test methods, customer requirements and HL Mando capabilities and develop appropriate countermeasures.
- Develop test equipment, hardware, and software to establish test methods; create specifications and RFQs for new equipment; collaborate with suppliers, evaluate proposals, and recommend the best solutions.
- Develop templates for data reduction and analysis.
- Create procedures, scripts, and reports to document and communicate test results.
- Track and maintain equipment calibration.
- Support root cause analysis and issue resolutions on application programs.
- Keep up to date with industry best practices for Reliability & Validating testing for brake products.
- Build expertise of HL Mando products and applied test methods.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or related field. Equivalent experience is accepted in place of a Degree, such as a minimum of 8 years in testing foundation brake systems or similar products, including validation of Electrical Control Units (ECUs).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in testing of foundation brake or similar products, including validation of Electrical Controller Unit.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition for brake testing equipment, including automotive network systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply academic knowledge to practical problems.
- Proficiency in MS Office with the ability to create macros and program in Visual Basic.
- Proficient communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
- Effective planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate across departments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Proactive in recommending and initiating process improvements.
Legal Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Working Conditions: This position typically operates in an office environment. Occasional travel may be required for training sessions, testing reviews, customer and supplier visits and colloquiums.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Monitor/computer stands can be provided for working while standing.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent walking, standing, and bending as needed to perform duties.
Remote Work: Eligible for Hybrid Remote Work Schedule based on management’s discretion.
