About The Role
Disney’s Product Management Team is seeking a Sr. Product Manager I, Content Data Products who will be an exceptional addition to our Content Data Products Team. This team is responsible for ideating, developing, and managing Data products focused on maximizing the value of Disney’s Content Asset Portfolio across all our distribution channels, including Subscription & Ad Supported Streaming, Cable and Broadcast. In this role, you will partner with a wide cross section of stakeholders groups who are interested in developing Content Performance insights - including Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Scientists to Financial analysts and Content Programming executives. Content Viewership Data, Engagement Metrics Development, Content Metadata Management and Business Stakeholder enablement are some of the key day-to-day functions this role is responsible for across brands like Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Marvel Studios, ABC News, etc.
The ideal candidate will have deep familiarity with the data warehousing solutions, data processing pipelines, analytics platforms and BI Tooling approaches from a product management perspective. The candidate will be required to then layer on deep business domain knowledge required to develop strong partnerships with Analysts and Business teams that use the Content Data Insights on a daily basis.
This role requires the ability to work in an incredibly fast-paced and constantly changing environment. The right candidate will need an exceptional ability to navigate complex organizational structure, develop strong relationships with stakeholders across a diverse set of functional roles and quickly get up to speed on complex data pipelines and platforms. The hiring range for this position in NYC/Seattle is $148,700 to $199,400 per year, and in Bristol and Santa Monica is $141,900-$190,300 per year, and in San Francisco is $155,400-$208,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

Responsibilities
- Develop deep understanding of the application/use of Content Data insights and elicit requirements from Data Analysts and Business leaders, transforming these insights into Product roadmaps with executable projects.
- Create and manage core product documentation including Business Case Proposals, Data Flow diagrams, Data Dictionaries, Build vs Buy Recommendations, User Stories, UAT preparedness etc.
- Manage day-to-day Product Management activities related to multiple scrum teams, including backlog refinement, prioritization of short term/long term business needs, product/feature launch communications, user onboarding and training.
- Partner with a whole range of teams within the Data organization (Analytics, Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Quality & Governance, Program Management) to deliver high impact, cost effective Data solutions.
- Identify risks, resolve key blockers, and establish appropriate resolution paths across the organization with inter-dependent roadmaps and priorities.
- Fill in gaps across roles and functions as needed, performing as an adaptive problem solver.
- Champion a collaborative work environment that cultivates shared understanding, transparency, autonomy, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Work with minimal oversight /guidance in a large matrixed organization with complex tech & data ecosystems; take initiative to simplify and articulate trade-off decisions to business and technical leadership.
- Drive towards delivery of projects. When specifics are unknown, be resourceful identifying partners and getting information needed. Take initiative to unblock and escalate as needed to move projects forward.
- Minimum of 5+ years of product management experience with strong focus on building and delivering successful data products, services and capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required, such as Engineering, Math, Science, Economics, etc.
- Strong foundational understanding of Big Data ecosystems to make trade-off decisions while developing end to end solutions on Cloud/On-Prem/Hybrid Data tech stack.
- Experience balancing new product development with maintaining day-to-day data reporting operations in a very large scale enterprise set up
- Experience utilizing both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis techniques and familiarity with common data science models and approaches to problem-solving. Generally: the ability to plan for what analysts and data scientists need to deliver.
- Planning acumen and proven ability to break down work, define an MVP, as well as subsequent iterations and track feature adoption to inform roadmap development.
- Experience demonstrating leadership, self-motivation, accountability with strong technical, strategic and problem-solving skills to drive change in a large matrix organization.
- Master’s degree in computer science, MBA, etc. preferred
- Experience with Media or Entertainment Industry Data sets (Examples include Video Content Metadata, Box Office Performance, Nielsen Ratings etc.)
- Experience with data visualization and BI reporting tools (Tableau, Looker, Microstrategy etc.) coupled with strong storytelling skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience or knowledge of basic programming (SQL, R, Python) and Data management technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, Couchbase, AirFlow, MySQL etc.)
