New York City is a vibrant tapestry of cultures, traditions and identities. The Department of Youth and Community Development is committed to exploring and uncovering the untold stories of NYC’s diverse communities. Under the direction of the Chief Communication Strategist, the Director of Multicultural media will create compelling multimedia stories that capture the history, languages, subcultures, other multicultural nuances , and identities of diverse communities that are positively impacted by DYCD through video, written features, photo essays, audio, press and other platforms."
The Director of Multicultural Media will be responsible for engaging area residents, elected public officials, community leaders, and key stakeholders in executing multicultural and multilingual media campaigns that will resonate across multiple dimensions of diversity and demographics. The Director will develop and promote through various platforms multicultural initiatives, content, and campaigns while fostering engagement within and between communities. Additionally, the candidate will stay on the pulse with areas of interest within communities and develop media strategies that are responsive to those trends. The selected candidate will also play a critical in ensuring a seamless internal and external communication flow, while providing essential support to DYCD’s leadership on best practices and strategies to promote diversity and inclusion through media. Cultural sensitivity, teamwork, and strong organizational and communication skills are critical to the success in this position.

EXECUTIVE PROGRAM SPECIALIST - 06854
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Law, or a related field from an accredited college and six months of satisfactory full-time professional experience in compliance, auditing, accountability or governance roles, preferably within the public or nonprofit sector
- An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college, and 18 months of satisfactory, full-time professional experience as described in “1” above; or
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two and one-half years of satisfactory full time professional experience as described in “1” above; or
- A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, or “3” above. College education may be substituted for professional experience under “2” or “3” above at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and 6 months of the experience described in “1” above.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 2.Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience addressing diverse audiences 3.Creative thinker who proactively identifies opportunities and solutions 4.Must be Enthusiastic, resourceful, and adaptable with a strong work ethic 5.Passion for staying updated on media trends and emergency technologies is essential
