As a Principal Data Analyst on the Optum Health Analytics team, you will work with cross-functional teams and need to be confident working independently while handling and guiding the team. You should be detail-oriented and able to document low to highly complex functional designs and data structures in order to support business and operational requirements. For the Principal Data Analyst role, we are looking for a high performing candidate to fill a key position on our fun, fast paced, and growing team.

Primary Responsibilities
- Build and leverage analytical tools to provide comprehensive and actionable insights into operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics
- Possess both sharpened technical and interpersonal skills with emphases on; quick learner, curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to influence large audiences
- Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional collaboration across Optum Health national and local teams as well as other
- OptumHealth businesses to stay informed on key initiatives, elicit business domain expertise, learn the drivers of each business area, gather and consolidate data, and align on the analytics approach and insights great attitude, passion, and persistence to solve complex problems
- Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Capture business requirements that can be translated into technical specifications/solutions
- Positions in this function are responsible for the management and manipulation of mostly structured data, with a focus on building business intelligence tools, conducting analysis to distinguish patterns and recognize trends, performing normalization operations and assuring data quality.

Required Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Business Administration or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in data analytics with a track record of progressive growth
- 2+ years of experience developing and troubleshooting complex SQL queries
- Demonstrated experience integrating and mining large data sets to generate insights and inform business decisions
- Experience with structuring data for effective utilization including sourcing, cleaning, managing, manipulating, automating, and optimizing output
- Experience with Visualization Tool(s)
- Experience with Excel Modeling
- Experience with programming and relational database software such as Snowflake.
- Experience working with revenue cycle data in the healthcare space
- Experience working with EPIC/ATHENA/eCW
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
