Overview
The Budget Accountant uses independent judgement and analytical skills in a highly computerized environment with responsibilities for: monthly preparation and analysis of estimated contractual adjustments, charity and bad debt, the preparation and filing of Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements, the preparation and maintenance of annual budgets, Federal/State and Local tax returns, reporting to the state COPN Regulatory Authority, and cost analysis. The Budget Accountant continuously analyzes the theoretical integrity of accounting functions in the accounting department and makes recommendations or implements solutions based on analysis.

The Budget Accountant continuously analyzes the theoretical integrity of accounting functions in the accounting department and makes recommendations or implements solutions based on analysis.
What You Will Do
- Complete complex accounting analysis requiring the application of accounting theory independently.
 - Monthly preparation and analysis of estimated contractual adjustments, charity and bad debt, the preparation and filing of Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements with independent judgement.
 - Preparation and maintenance of annual budgets, Federal/State and Local tax returns, reporting to the state COPN Regulatory Authority, and cost analysis with independent judgement.
 - Interpret and communicate federal and state regulations. Manage and assess priorities and deadlines with independent judgement.
 - Assess the theoretical integrity of accounting functions performed in the area of responsibility. Recommend and implements improvements.
 - Serve as a liaison with regulatory and taxing agencies, external consultants, auditors, and RHS leadership and administrators
 
Education
- Bachelors Degree, Accounting or Finance/Business with concentration in Accounting (Required)
 - Masters Degree, Related field (Preferred)
 
- 1 year Accounting experience with Analysis/Budget/Financial Statements (Required)
 - Prior experience in Healthcare Accounting/Finance (Preferred)
 
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - The AICPA (Preferred)
