Responsibilities
Our Family Medicine Clinic in Altoona, IA, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our patient-centered healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, detail-oriented professional who provides high-quality clinical and administrative support to ensure the best possible patient experience.
- Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider.
- Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain clinical supplies.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and specimen collection.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and provide patient education.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, OSHA, HIPAA, and other healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated patient care.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program required.
- Must hold one of the following active certifications:
- CCMA (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, National Healthcareer Association
- CMA (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant, American Association of Medical Assistants
- CMA-NCCT – Certified Medical Assistant, National Center for Competency Testing
- CMA-NCMA – Certified Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant
- NRCMA (NAHP) – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, National Association of Health Professionals
- RMA (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Medical Technologists
- RMA (AAH) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Allied Health
- RMA (ARMA) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Registry of Medical Assistants
- Current CPR/BLS certification required.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and patient service skills.
- Experience using EPIC a plus!
