Location: Remote, with the need to come on-site to Des Moines, Corporate. Travel required.
This position is responsible for leadership and daily operations of the Workforce Optimization Center. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing scheduling best practices, data collection/analysis, project management, and serves as the key liaison with the UPH staffing and scheduling solution platform.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Serves as the key business leader for market team; seen as the subject matter expert and responsible for the development of partnerships and purposeful connections with team members, leaders, other departments, and external partners.
- Responsible for leadership of department operations and supervision of scheduling team.
- Responsible for monitoring and recommend adjustments to department practices to ensure compliance with applicable certification, licensure, and accreditation requirements.
- Schedules and monitors new staff orientation and ongoing education for successful job performance.
- Conducts annual performance appraisals for assigned team members.
- Ensures departmental policies and procedures and job descriptions are current.
- Monitors FTEs, operational and capital budget for the department.
- Investigates budget variance and initiates corrective actions when necessary.
- Provides guidance to the organization on matters related to protected health information management.
- Supervises team by motivating, mentoring, coaching and providing guidance to team to deliver high quality, cost effective services.
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and managing market scheduling processes, projects, data reporting, and quality improvement projects.
- Serves as the key leader and role model; balances team and individual responsibilities; performs all duties of a director.
- Serves as the administrative leader and liaison with all clinical department physicians, physician partners, and activities; assists with the contract preparation, negotiation, and execution of radiologist agreements and execution of Market-specific agreements where applicable; serves as the administrative representative to Medical Staff departments, sections, and committees.
- Employs systems thinking in decision making, directs resolution of complex problems, and provides consultation and advice.
- Oversees daily operations to ensure delivery of high-quality services and support. Provides ongoing monitoring and oversight to annually assess the effectiveness of department and organizational outcomes.
- Develops, reviews, and ensures departmental policies and procedures and job descriptions are current
- Leads and coordinates projects as assigned, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
- Leads customer service and quality initiatives; evaluates outcomes and data to continuously improve operational processes, procedures & systems; integrates appropriate technology.
- Establishes efficient, ongoing training and development programs ensuring compliance with regulatory/accreditation, and meeting quality, and safety.
- Develops the annual budget and leads fiscal reviews of internal resources to promote an efficient and effective environment for all areas of responsibility.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field
- Master's degree preferred
- 2-4 years of progressive leadership experience required
- 3 years of experience in staffing and scheduling functions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of accreditation requirements, state and federal regulatory and professional standards.
- Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to take initiative, exercise independent judgment with strong decision making, and problem-solving skills.
