Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Drone Surveyor to join our aggregates team. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with co-workers and managers to perform drone-based surveying and data collection across multiple job sites. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a team environment, is detail-oriented, and is committed to maintaining high safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and operate surveying instruments, including drones, to collect accurate field data.
• Interpret engineering plans to establish lines, grades, and boundaries for construction and aggregate operations.
• Maintain thorough notes and records of all survey data and engineering measurements.
• Calculate cross sections and quantities for cost analysis, planning, and payment purposes.
• Coordinate daily tasks with multiple crews to ensure all surveying needs are met for each project or site.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-flight drone inspections and document findings in accordance with company policies.
• Safely lift, carry, and handle materials, tools, and equipment as required.
• Assist construction, paving, or plant crews with tasks such as shoveling, raking, and transporting materials when necessary.
• Adhere strictly to all company policies, OSHA, and MSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned and demonstrate flexibility to support team operations.
• Consistently wear required personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  

Work Requirements

• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Optional: Experience developing models for GPS-controlled equipment using AutoCAD.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening, criminal background check, and “Fit for Work” physical.
• Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration form.
• Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy toward co-workers, supervisors, and the public at all times.
• Report reliably to work at the designated start time.
• Willingness and availability to travel to various job sites within the division.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Ability to work outdoors in a range of extreme weather conditions (hot and cold).
• Comply strictly with safety procedures and requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Maintain a current driver’s license and a safe driving record that meets company and state standards.
• Must be at least 18 years old due to work environment requirements.
  

Education and Experience

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Previous experience operating DJI platform drones.
• Preferred: Experience using the Propellor platform for surveying.
• Preferred: Prior field experience in construction or aggregates industry.
• Desired: Training or experience with Topcon or Trimble surveying systems.
  
  

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
• Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
• Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed.Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
• Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
• Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
