Oversee the implementation of corporate safety programs and procedures across Swinerton Energy. Ensure team(s) adhere to internal standards and external regulatory requirements. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and promote a proactive approach to safety.

Job Description

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Able to perform all essential Senior Safety Manager duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist with developing and implementing safety business plans, large-scale initiatives, and strategies across the organization to create and promote a culture of safety.
  • Lead hiring efforts for safety team and manage staff assignments and budgets.
  • Utilize business plans to develop Safety workforce strategies and succession plans for the organization.
  • Oversee team performance, conduct performance reviews, and manage development plans.
  • Oversee and guide the development and implementation of Safety programs, policies, and procedures related to process and industrial safety.
  • Assist with continuously improving company safety programs and practices.
  • Work closely with leadership, project stakeholders, and clients regarding safety matters and issues.
  • Monitor site-specific safety plans and implement subcontractor risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensures development of robust emergency response plans for potential chemical spills, fires, and explosions, often involving coordination with external emergency services.
  • Conduct audits and site inspections of safety processes, practices, and equipment utilization to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Ensures management of risks associated with high-pressure piping, and understands flow performance, pressure drop, and control mechanisms specific to industrial processes.
  • Partner with leaders to address areas for improvement and non-conformance to prevent future risks.
  • Take lead and advise on claims/investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective plans.
  • Educate teams to develop and implement effective corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Ensure teams understand emergency response protocol and crisis management procedures.
  • Manage safety recordkeeping to ensure documentation is available for claims and reporting.
  • Maintain accreditations and stay updated with regulatory changes to ensure jobsites compliance.
  • Communicate and implement changes to company safety programs, procedures, and policies mandated by corporate or external regulations.
  • Actively network, attend industry events, and engage with governing agencies and boards to stay updated with industry knowledge, trends, and changes.
  • Track and analyze key metrics and safety data to report on Safety effectiveness.
  • Participate in operations meetings to present on safety matters and stay updated on upcoming projects to provide adequate safety support.
  • Oversee safety training and manage certifications tracking for the organization.
  • Update safety documentation as necessary and maintain corporate content current.
  • Oversee and structure safety meetings; communicate company changes or updates.
  • Provide or perform environmental and health testing or sampling, as needed.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements Or Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in EHS, or related field. (Or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
  • 10+ years of related industry safety experience, or equivalent combination of field and/or safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge or expertise in safety management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance across industrial, construction, mining, and/or facility settings.
  • Demonstrated and thorough working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA and applicable regulations.
  • Highly capable of evaluating construction activities and schedules with respect to safety and loss control.
  • Able to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Highly capable of leveraging data to analyze safety trends with respect to incidents/accidents.
  • Highly experienced with injury/accident claims and leading investigations.
  • Able to conduct trainings needs assessment, develop training curriculum, and educate teams/employees on safety procedures to create a culture of Safety.
  • Experience with managing and developing high performing teams.
  • Strong computer skills include Microsoft Office programs, Autodesk ACC Build, and construction management software. CMIC experience a plus.
  • Effective written and verbal English language communication skills; Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
  • Strong organization skills to effectively support multiple project sites.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to foster collaboration, and build strong working relationships with clients, external governing agencies, and stakeholders.

Certifications

  • First-Aid/CPR/AED certified trainer required or ability to acquire.
  • OSHA 500 (OSHA 10/30 Instructor) required
  • CHST or OHST required. CSP preferred
