Job Overview
The Lead Scheduler is responsible for the operational oversight and coordination of scheduling and billing activities within the Perioperative Support Services department. This role provides leadership to a team of scheduling and billing personnel across multiple departments and procedural service areas, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines. Serving as the subject matter expert in surgical billing and scheduling operations, the Lead Scheduler acts as the primary liaison for billing issues, audit reviews, and departmental process improvements. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical and communication skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and maintains a proactive approach to problem-solving and workflow optimization.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a surgical billing capacity, preferably in a hospital or large healthcare system
- Proven experience overseeing or supporting multi-site or multi-department operations
- Proficiency with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems
- Strong understanding of billing workflows, audit standards, and compliance practices
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving capabilities
- Previous leadership experience within a perioperative or surgical services environment
- Knowledge of hospital revenue cycle processes and scheduling best practices
- Ability to identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process improvements
- Working Shift: Monday – Friday
- Day Shift
- Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week
- Provide daily oversight of scheduling and billing personnel within the Perioperative Support Services department
- Ensure accurate and timely billing across multiple procedural service areas, maintaining compliance with all hospital and audit guidelines
- Serve as the primary point of contact for billing inquiries, discrepancies, and escalations
- Monitor departmental performance metrics and support staff in achieving efficiency and quality goals
- Escalate clinical or operational issues to the appropriate leadership for resolution
- Develop and maintain standardized procedures to promote consistency, accuracy, and accountability within the scheduling and billing process
- Collaborate with department managers, clinical staff, and administrative leaders to ensure optimal scheduling practices that align with patient care and operational priorities
- Participate in staff training, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Perform other duties and assignments as required to support departmental and organizational objectives
