Summary

Special Education teacher who provides special education support to students in specialized autism programming in a district separate school placement according to a student’s IEP.

Special Education teacher who provides individualized support to students within a Structured Learning Environment in a district-operated separate school placement, in alignment with each student’s IEP.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Regular monitoring learning progress and adjusting instruction and programming

Implement district curriculum and teaching practices, including co-teaching where appropriate

Manage and implement multi grade level schedules

Support and implement instruction around behavior, social emotional needs and self-regulation

Manage and coordinate the IEP process for individual students

Knowledge of FBA and BIP development, consultation and collaboration

Integration of Technology

Lead the classroom team in the use of data collection practices

Analyze data on a regular basis in collaboration with staff

Coordinate team approach with related service providers and paraprofessionals/RBT

Small environment instruction

Manage and implement individual student schedules

Managing a caseload of students that shifts throughout the school year and includes administrative placement

Knowledge of and implementation of specialized curriculums

Knowledge and training in CPI strategies

Implementation of self regulation strategies

Facilitating functional communication and alternative communication in students

Education And Training

Must hold current Colorado Teaching License with appropriate special education endorsement (or application submitted to Colorado Department of Education). Knowledge of alternative assessment pathways.

Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

Differentiate instruction for students according to student needs.

Plan, organize and implement classroom materials and curriculum.

Regularly monitor student learning progress to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational approaches being used and make adjustments as required.

Administer appropriate formal and informal assessments to evaluate academic and functional skill level, progress, and achievement and to make instructional decisions.

Develop and implement standards-based IEPs, functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention plans.

Consultation and collaboration with general educators, service providers, and paraprofessionals.

Provide modeling and coaching for support staff who work in the program.

Professional and respectful communication with parents of students in the program.
