Your tasks
- Summary:
- Manage an integrated production 12 hour overnight shift consisting of Injection Molding, Plastic Fabrication & Fusion Molding in a manufacturing setting. All Molding Operators report directly to the Production Supervisor. This position also helps supervise the Matte Winding personnel on the respective shift and Set Up Personnel.
- Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set goals with each direct and indirect report that is based on the annual goals developed by the manufacturing plan
- Guide and direct the Operators and Set up Personnel
- Assist with the interviewing and hiring process of all production employees that will be assigned to your shift
- Support all company policies and directions
- Ensure that you meet or exceed the Labor Efficiency goals on a weekly basis
- Ensure that all issues related to any type of equipment and/or tools are documented and submitted to the appropriate people
- Ensure that all molds are running at or below standard cycle and verify that the set-up sheets for each part are being followed
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 certification requirements
- Maintain a high degree of knowledge in Oracle and Microsoft programs
- Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees
- Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by supervisor
- Implement and sustain the 6S system throughout all production areas
- Evaluate and discipline employees according to company policies
- Support and manage the Cost Reduction effort to continually reduce product manufacturing costs
- Support and participate in the overall EH&S programs
- Participate and support all improvement methods used to manufacture all products
- Capable of conducting Root Cause Analysis and formalized Problem Solving Methodology
- Support the “1 second cycle reduction” program. Ensure that each Process Technician documents each improvement and report improvements to the Process Technician
- Identify top talented people that are promotable for new or future jobs
- Initiate and maintain periodic reporting to Top Management on various metrics
- Maintain a leadership role in generally accepted manufacturing initiatives such as 6S, Statistical Process Control, and Lean Manufacturing techniques
- Required Skills/Abilities:
- A good understanding of Finance, including income statements, balance sheets, and budgets and planning
- Knowledge/experience in resin properties and use
- Knowledge of mold monitoring sensors and modeling techniques
- A forward and long-range planner capable of looking out 2 years to plan for long-term complex projects to improve the company
- Good communications skills with a key to listening, striving to be viewed as a person who treats all people with respect and fairness
- An understanding of how your decisions affect the company’s stability and profitability
- Knowledge of thick-wall molding desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Education and Experience:
- Management degree or at least 3 years experience in supervising an integrated manufacturing operation
- Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Typical factory environment with exposure to heat in production areas
- Capable of viewing computer information for extended times
- Capable of walking on production floor for employee interaction
