Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs detailed deburring, beveling, edge-finishing, & surface preparation on machine metal components using hand tools, power tools, & specialized deburring equipment.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, & surface imperfections to meet engineering specifications, blueprints, & quality standards.
  • Uses precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, radius gauges, etc.) to verify dimensional accuracy during and after finishing processes.
  • Interprets & follows engineering drawings, work orders, routers, & written work instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Inspects parts visually & dimensionally to ensure compliance with internal & customer requirements; escalate discrepancies to Quality or supervision.
  • Performs surface conditioning operations such as polishing, tumbling, sanding, & edge contouring as required by part specifications.
  • Maintains clean & organized workstations, ensuring proper handling & storage of tools, equipment, and in-process parts.
  • Worls closely with machinists, quality inspectors, & production supervisors to prioritize work and support timely throughput.
  • Adheres to strict safety protocols, including use of PPE & safe operation of all finishing tools & equipment.
  • Meets daily production goals while maintaining accuracy, consistency, & high-quality workmanship.
  • Assists in continuous improvements by identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce defects, and enhance workflow.
  • Documents work performed & completes all required production records, inspection sheets, & traceability documentation.
  • Supports other manufacturing or finishing tasks as needed based on workload & operational priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of relevant deburring experience
  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of customer specifications & requirements
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Must be proficient in English
  • Strong mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, & fractions)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player
  • Understand and obey safety requirements
  • Committed to keeping work area clean & free of debris

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms for extended periods of time
  • Capable of sitting for long periods while performing hand-finishing tasks
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, & lifting to handle components & tools
  • Ability to use & visually inspect small components, requiring excellent close vision and depth perception
  • Repetitive-motion tasks are common and may involve continuous hand and arm movements
  • Ability to work in areas with moderate noise levels, airborne particles, & machinery in operation
