The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As Director, Internal Communications you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. We are seeking an experienced, results-driven individual to lead our company’s internal communications strategy supporting the Chief Commercial Officer and other key leaders. This role will serve as the communications lead for our Medical Surgical business and provide oversight for our team of business and executive communications professionals.

As a key member of the Communications and Corporate Marketing team this position will be instrumental in shaping our internal brand, driving employee engagement and supporting business transformation. The Director will oversee the development and implementation of internal communications strategies working closely with executive leadership to ensure consistent, clear and impactful messaging. This position blends strategic oversight with day-to-day operational management offering the opportunity to shape the internal voice of a dynamic and evolving company.

Internal Communications Strategy Development

  • Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive internal communications strategy in collaboration with commercial teams that supports business goals, cultural transformation, cross-business connection and brand positioning
  • Develop key messaging frameworks for executive and employee communications ensuring alignment with corporate goals and organizational standards
  • Create a unified internal voice that resonates across different audiences including employees, leaders and functional teams
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including HR, Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Global Communications and other leadership to align on key internal communications initiatives and ensure consistency across all touchpoints

Executive Advisory

  • Serve as a senior communications counselor to the Chief Commercial Officer and senior leadership team providing guidance on thought leadership, change management and employee engagement

Narrative Development

  • Craft compelling messaging and storytelling frameworks that reflect the voice and vision of the business ensuring consistency across all channels and audiences
  • Identify and source cross-business, cross-functional storytelling opportunities

Strategic Communications Planning

  • Lead the development of long-range communication strategies that align with business priorities, anticipate organizational shifts and support sustained engagement across stakeholder groups

Change Communications Leadership

  • Design and execute communication plans that guide employees through transformation ensuring clarity, alignment and momentum during periods of change

Integrated Messaging Strategy

  • Build and maintain a cohesive narrative across initiatives ensuring that communications reinforce strategic goals and evolve with the business over time

Enterprise Collaboration

  • Partner closely and proactively with Global Communications, HR, Finance, Strategy, Marketing and International teams to ensure alignment and integration across the company

AI Implementation and Enablement

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing evolution of how the business and executive communications teams leverage AI tools to enhance communications, improve efficiency and drive innovation in messaging and workflow
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and best practices to ensure the team is equipped to use advanced tools for content creation, audience analysis and engagement measurement
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on integrating AI solutions into daily communications processes

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of business and executive communications professionals providing guidance, professional development and fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment
  • Oversee the development of internal communications talent ensuring team members have the tools and support they need to succeed in a fast-paced environment

Measurement and Impact

  • Define success metrics and apply data-driven insights to continuously improve communication effectiveness and audience engagement
  • Implement systems and processes to track and measure the effectiveness of internal communications efforts providing regular reports on engagement and other KPIs
  • Ensure the company is leveraging the latest tools and technologies to optimize internal communications efforts including analytics and employee listening

Your Skills And Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in communications, public relations, journalism, business or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role, ideally in PR, media relations, government affairs or corporate communications.

In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:

  • Proven success in managing internal communications strategies for a global organization.
  • Experience in building and leading a high-performing internal and/or external communications team in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience working in industries such as medtech, healthcare or highly regulated sectors is a plus.

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
