Overall Description Of Job Scope And Responsibilities

As a Barista you would be primarily responsible for setting up and maintaining the Cafe. With minimal supervision, provide exceptional guest service by welcoming them and be well attended at all times. Responsible to track and collect payment for Café items for hotel guests and walk-ins.

Relationships

This position reports to the Assistant General Manager, retains relationships with peers and all other departments within the hotel/restaurant, maintains relationships with current and prospective guests.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

  • Normal work hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Welcome and provide personalized service to all guests.
  • Assist guests by helping take orders and suggesting daily specials, clean tables and clean dining and production area.
  • Attend to guest needs and requests.
  • Must be aware of Cafe’s menu items and beverage selections.
  • Must know about the entire property, services, hours of operation, locations, and nearby places of interest, etc.
  • Prepare and consistently maintain dining area and supplies in a guest ready atmosphere.
  • Prepare foods such as fruit and coffee drinks or smoothies.
  • Responsible for stocking coffee, juice, and soda cooler.
  • Set out/arrange food in the pastry case and inform kitchen when items need to be restocked.
  • Wipe spills and maintain cleanliness of all appliances, espresso machine and counter space throughout the shift.
  • Clear and clean tables as they are vacated.
  • Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silverware prior to use.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.
  • Any other duties around preparation, set up and service of Cafe.
  • Maintain the inventory of all products on a daily basis; twice weekly, take inventory and turn in completed order form to kitchen to ensure correct supplies.
  • Able to work with point of sale software and inventory software.
  • Generate KOT (Kitchen order ticket), add modifiers or remarks and able to make settlements for paid items.
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning checklists.
  • Assist with closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations.
  • Work as a team member in aspects such as: cleaning, side work, food preparation and storage.
  • Close out shift by cleaning and restocking supplies for next day or shift
  • Solve guest issues with professionalism and always maintain hospitable attitude.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in similar role.
  • Must be knowledgeable in preparing lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, and other specialty coffees and teas.
  • Must be knowledgeable in creating new specialty coffees and teas.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be willing to learn how to prepare food made kitchen to help or assist when business is busy.
  • Must be willing to learn work in other areas of the hotel to assist as needed.
  • Must have or be able to obtain food safety handling certificate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the week, weekends and holidays.
