Requirements
Position Summary:
Support management of Barber-Nichols’ Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and business systems, including servers, cloud environments, and end-user computing. This position ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems in compliance with NIST 800-171 and CMMC Level 2 requirements. The System Administrator II is a fully onsite role that collaborates daily with local and remote team members to maintain system reliability, enforce cybersecurity controls, and drive continual improvement through measurable IT metrics and KPIs. This role serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues unresolved by Helpdesk or Tier 1 staff.

Compensation And Benefits
The salary range for this role is $94,675 to $120,000. This range represent the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.

The System Administrator II is a fully onsite role that collaborates daily with local and remote team members to maintain system reliability, enforce cybersecurity controls, and drive continual improvement through measurable IT metrics and KPIs. This role serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues unresolved by Helpdesk or Tier 1 staff.
Key Results Areas
Manage and Maintain Business Applications
- Manage and maintain the hardware and software needed for business applications and IT-owned applications.
- Ensure PC hardware and server hardware is scoped to best practices in support of supported applications.
- Monitor, manage, and enable adequate on-prem storage for shared file directories and greater business needs, including DR backups.
- Manage and maintain an Application Maintenance Schedule, as well as perform maintenance in off-hour windows, prioritized by criticality.
- Manage and maintain application backups, documentation, and configurations.
- Manage and maintain an Office 365 GCCH environment, including support, licensing, compliance, and other applications such as SharePoint.
- Maintain a list of approved and supported applications to ensure compliant licensing and proper budgeting.
- Manage and maintain the hardware and software needed for business systems and IT-owned systems.
- Provide documentation and level 1 and level 2 support training to Helpdesk Team for business systems where appropriate.
- Research and recommend innovation, and where possible, automated approaches for IT and business processes.
- Administer, maintain, and support Azure VMs, cloud infrastructure, Azure AD, Intune, Sentinel, and other O365 services.
- Administer, manage, and ensure servers remain patched and secure including installation of software releases, patches and anti-virus updates.
- Maintain domain computer security and access using Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Group Policy Object (GPO).
- Provide end-user support for hardware and software business applications and systems.
- Provide advanced documentation, process updates, and knowledge transfer to the Helpdesk and Systems Support teams.
- Analyze recurring issues and implement preventative measures or process improvements; contribute to root cause analyses (RCAs) and incident postmortems.
- Perform duties as required as part of incident response team.

Education and Training
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience or training in proper cyber security hygiene and/or experience with common cyber applications is a plus.
- 3-5 years of relevant IT and systems administration experience.
- Experience in operation of active directory and exchange server.
- Experience with Windows Server administration including Azure and hybrid-environments.
- Must be willing to work overtime as required
- MS Network Certification (MCSA) and relational database experience is a plus
- Server +, ITIL, Microsoft Administrator or other equivalent certifications are required

- Physical demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is primarily required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend. Required to speak and communicate clearly with others. - Work Environment: This job primarily operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is also exposed to high level of manufacturing and equipment noise. Duties are performed indoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes. Exposure to hazardous materials, fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts with vibration.
