We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our efforts in product design, sustaining, and mass production.
What You Will Do
- Design, model, simulate, and optimize mechanical designs and models
- Create test plans, technical documents, reports, and presentations
- Perform tolerance analysis, characterize devices, generate engineering changes, release drawings for fabrication, evaluate vendors, analyze issues and determine root cause
- Work with and/or mentor other team members to optimize and finalize design for full production and to meet all specifications
- Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians. Provide technical support for customers and suppliers
- Support process development and production teams
- Perform and/or support design verification, reliability, and failure analysis to ensure that design meets all specifications and customer requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in mechanical design, preferably in optical transceiver design
- High proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drafting using NX, SolidWorks, or similar CAD platforms
- Experience in manufacturing methods such as machining, die casting, plastic injection molding, and sheet metal forming
- Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management tools
- Expertise in GD&T
- Experience in applying statistical tolerance stack-up techniques
- Experience with thermal design/simulation, and familiarity with thermal interface materials
- Ability to perform stress analysis and FEA-driven design optimization
- Experience in DFMEA principles
- MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or related field related technical discipline
- Familiarity with optical alignment, die attach, and optoelectrical packaging
