Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled Technical Drafter with experience in AS9100-compliant design documentation to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will support the design and production of advanced power supply systems for aerospace and defense applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer contractual requirements. This role combines technical drafting with the responsibility to produce formal documentation, reports, and analyses that support engineering studies, trade-off evaluations, and product qualification efforts.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Engineering reports and studies
    • Write, edit, and publish technical reports including engineering studies, trade studies, test plans, and test reports.
    • Develop documentation to satisfy contractual data requirements (CDRLs/SDRLs), ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory specifications.
    • Support reliability analysis reports and risk assessments for product design and qualification.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with design engineers, production engineers, program managers, quality engineers, production teams, and test teams to integrate information and produce technical reports.
    • Participate in design reviews, providing clear and accurate graphical and written materials for internal and customer-facing presentations.
    • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and test engineering teams to generate reports that support new product introduction and CDRLs/SDRLs.
  • Standards and Compliance
    • Ensure all data submissions adhere to all customer requirements and AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems.
    • Maintain configuration management discipline and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in documentation and drafting practices.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent technical experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in technical drafting within aerospace, defense, or other regulated engineering environments.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) and document management systems (PLM/PDM tools).
  • Demonstrated ability to author formal engineering reports, trade studies, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 requirements and familiarity with contractual data deliverables (CDRLs/SDRLs).
  • Understanding of reliability analysis and aerospace/defense product lifecycle considerations is preferred.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • College level written and verbal English.
  • Working knowledge of engineering mathematics, probability and statistics is required.
  • Objective and logical with strong root-cause problem solving ability.
  • Microsoft Office and data analytics skills required. Modeling and simulation is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
  • Planning, analytical, assertive, and ability to interact with other groups.
