General Purpose

The Strategy Analyst will play a key role in addressing significant challenges in how we continue to support our bargain strategy. The Strategy Analyst will report to the Strategy Sr. Manager. The Strategy Analyst will gain exposure to multiple areas of the business and should expect to interact frequently with key operators as well as other strategy team members in Dublin, CA and New York, NY.

The base salary range for this role is $77,900 - $117,050. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

Essential Functions

Perform practical, action oriented, & comprehensive data analysis in support of Strategic business initiatives

  • Conduct analysis - including pulling data, building models and analyzing financial, operational or statistical data - to support key strategic priorities for the Company (working in conjunction with Strategy team members and other key senior executives)
  • Develop compelling materials to communicate results of analysis and key insights internally and externally (e.g. Board meetings, Buyer meetings, Operating Committee meetings, Strategic off-sites, etc.)

Analyze business problems and develop insights into root causes and improvement opportunities

  • Understand the off-price business and diagnose key business problems. Create and execute plans to gather data and develop practical solutions.

Support key cross-functional initiatives

  • Collaborate with other departments to conduct analyses for key executive-level priorities (e.g. new store format improvement, roll-out strategy for new business opportunities). This will require working closely with store operations, DCs and other areas of the business.

Drive Customer Insights Across Formats

  • Conduct and analyze quantitative and qualitative consumer research to provide insight on customer attitude and behavior to drive strategies for the company and for individual businesses.

Manage external research, information vendors and system providers

  • Work intensively with customer research providers and manage the wide array of data providers.

Monitor ongoing and ad hoc internal and external events

  • Provide ad hoc business and competitive intelligence and insights for key senior executives: e.g. store / region performance, competitive information.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • College degree, preferably with an analytical or business background
  • 2-3 years post college experience, preferably in an analytical environment, corporate strategy role, consulting, or financial services firm.
  • Outstanding analytical ability: Must have a data driven approach to solving problems. Requires very strong quantitative skills and a good sense of how to dissect problems.
  • Must be able to set priorities while conducting analysis to quickly arrive at an actionable solution.
  • Detail-oriented approach: Must have very close attention to details and the drive to get things right.
  • Teamwork/Communication: Needs to be able to build effective working relationships within and outside the Strategy team. Must be able to listen, understand, and communicate with executives at all levels of the company.
  • Strong fundamental IT skills - must be Excel and PowerPoint proficient, strong knowledge of SPSS or other statistical databases is preferred.

This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
