Director of Technology Architecture & Engineering at BankUnited

SUMMARY: The Director of Technology Architecture & Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the development and ongoing curation of the Bank's overall Cloud and Physical Infrastructure Technology roadmap. In so doing the Director of Technology Architecture & Engineering will manage across multiple architecture teams (infrastructure, network, identity/security, and data services) who will be responsible for the planning and build-out of new services and technologies within the Bank's technology estate. The role will be expected to drive the development of re-usable design patterns in order to facilitate the adoption of new cloud and infrastructure services (in partnership with the Enterprise Architecture team). All while keeping smart automation, infrastructure as code, and self-service enablement top of mind and in constant practice.

The Director of Technology Architecture & Engineering is a technology leadership position that is both forward looking to project future technology trends, threats, and opportunities in alignment with the organization's goals, as well as evangelical to drive adoption of new technologies through education and self-service automation enablement. In doing so this leadership position will entail cross business (From C-level to department end users) and IT team collaboration (Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, etc.). Furthermore, the position will also be responsible for providing guidance and mentorship to the leadership and architecture teams who will report directly to.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

• Provide architectural guidance and leadership on all cloud and physical infrastructure-based technology systems
• Develop and curate the overall Enterprise Cloud Strategy and ensure ongoing adherence to
• Ownership of the Cloud Architecture, Network Architecture, and IAM Architecture Roadmaps
• Drive repeatable architectural design patterns that focus on security, operational excellence, and optimization of performance & cost efficiency
• Foster and expand the adoption of IaC across the various architecture and engineering teams
• Foster self-service technology enablement through smart automation and transparent security and governance guardrails
• Supplement and partner with the Enterprise Architecture (EA) team in maturing the EA program and ensuring technology alignment with the organizational goals
• Maintain current knowledge of technology trends & developments and act as an advisor to the Bank in reference to its technology strategies
• Coordinate with IT and cross-department product teams to ensure awareness regarding the Banks's technology usage and ongoing/future initiatives
• Contribute to the development of cloud standards, best practices and organizational cloud capability.
• Research and drive adoption of cloud-native technologies.
• Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
• Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
• Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

EDUCATION

College degree or equivalent management/work experience (At least 10 years), which includes practical experience in Information Technology and IT Security

Experience

• Minimum 4 years' experience with cloud-based enterprise infrastructure architecture and/or operations required
• 7+ years experience -- Vendor management and contract negotiation
• 7+ years experience -- Experience in designing applications (eg web, client/server, COM+, etc)
• 3+ years experience -- Experience with access federation and identity management
• 3+ years experience -- Experience with access federation and identity management
• Experience with cloud services and tools integration
• 7+ years experience -- Broad project and system development lifecycle (SDLC) experience -- with an emphasis in enterprise environments
• 7+ years experience -- Experienced producing multi-tiered, load-balanced, redundant infrastructure architectures
