This role drives the transformation of QI from traditional defect counting to insight-driven, risk-based inspections that improve yield, stability, and customer satisfaction.

Job description
The Quality Inspections (QI) Manager leads the fab’s inline quality inspection program and is responsible for ensuring accurate defect detection, timely feedback, and strong correlation between inspections and product performance. This role drives the transformation of QI from traditional defect counting to insight-driven, risk-based inspections that improve yield, stability, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Quality Inspections team and ensure consistent execution of inline inspections.
- Implement advanced sampling strategies, inline partitions, and inspection plans based on product and process risk.
- Monitor defect trends, identify excursions quickly, and drive containment and corrective actions.
- Partner with PI/YE, Test Engineering, and Process Engineering to correlate defects with electrical performance and yield.
- Maintain tool stability, inspection methods, classification accuracy, and MSA/SPC requirements.
- Provide clear reporting and participate in customer reviews, audits, and product quality discussions.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor defect inspection and quality control methods.
- Ability to analyze data, detect trends, and drive cross-functional problem solving.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
- Proficiency with Excel and data tools; experience with JMP or MES systems is a plus.
