Individuals assigned to the Machine Shop shall be able to use blueprints, drawings, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing files to program by using computer software such as Mastercam CAD/CAM, SolidWorks, and/or Fusion 360 for the Computerized Numerical Control machines and operate CNC machines to produce precision metal or plastic parts. Must also set up different types of equipment that are controlled by computers to accomplish goals with accuracy while maintaining high level of production rates. Operating the conventional milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and band saws as required to manufacture new products and/or repair or rework parts in accordance with engineering instructions and drawings.

The pay rate for this role in California is $41.11 to $50.05 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.

Responsibilities
Operational/Functional Check:
- Able to select and upload tools, set-up and run CNC Mills and Lathes for first article and productions. Work independently with all types of machines and control without supervision
- Ability to identify and change cutting tools, inserts, drills, end mills, boring bars, grove tools, threading inserts, tool holders, collets, and hard and soft jaws
- Know how to edit existing programs based on the results of the first article piece, updated drawings and/or engineering change order
- Check their own work by using inspection tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, high gauge, pin gauge, thread gauges, inner mics, and optical comparators to maintain accuracy
- Visually check and identify material types and surface finish of machined parts
- Understand how the systems and machines operate to identify the source of issue when the machine is down
- Ability to read the manuals, schematics, diagrams, manufacturer’s instructions, and troubleshooting trees
- Follow Material Board Review (MRB) dispositioned instructions, identify the issues, and rework parts to align with drawing and/or DMS
- Lift, carry, and place assemblies and components on machine work surface, pallets, and other fixtures
- Pushes/pulls carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and wheeled assembly fixtures around work areas
- Uses overhead hoists and cranes to move heavy parts/assemblies
- Uses forklift to move oversize/heavy components/assemblies over medium and long
- Ability to perform rigging for aligning and securing the heavy parts, attaching loads, controlling the move
