We are searching for someone to join our team as an Environmental Health and Safety Lead, and we are looking for someone who has had previous experience in this field. This person is responsible for ensuring that our company follows safety and environmental regulations. The EHS Lead will work closely with HR and the Operations Manager to implement safety programs and policies.
Health & Safety Duties
Inspect, gather data, ensure compliance, and submit reports for required environmental programs. Conduct employee training in environmental compliance and education. Keep up to date on changes in regulations and/or programs as necessary to maintain compliance.
Have education, experience, certifications or be willing to obtain such certifications that cover the following regulations:
Degrees/Certificates: OSHA certification. Associates Degree preferred, or relevant experience.

Health & Safety Duties
- Hazard Assessments: Continuous assessment process of the facility and identify potential hazards in the workplace. These may include physical hazards such as machinery, chemicals, and other equipment, as well as environmental hazards such as noise, temperature, and lighting. Establish the level of risk associated with each hazard. This involves assessing the likelihood of an incident occurring and the potential consequences if it does.
- Mitigation Measures: Develop and implement measures to mitigate the risks associated with each hazard. These may include engineering controls, administrative controls, or personal protective equipment.
- Training and Education: Provide training and education to employees on safety protocols and procedures. This may include topics such as hazard recognition, safe work practices, emergency response, and reporting procedures.
- Incident Reporting and Investigation: Responsible for reporting and investigating incidents to identify root causes and take corrective actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
- Ongoing Monitoring and Improvement: Regularly monitor the effectiveness of the safety program and make continuous improvements based on feedback and data collected.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Develop and outline a comprehensive Safety Program for the facility including: management leadership, worker participation, hazard identification and assessment, hazard prevention and control, and education and training in accordance with OSHA standards. Management of employee Health and Safety across two offices and two production shifts.
- Coordinate safety and environmental programs, new hire safety orientation, weekly topics/videos for supervisors and annual safety training requirements.
- Schedule and lead monthly Joint Safety Committee Meeting & monthly plant inspection.
- Conduct monthly inspections of all fire extinguishers, and eye wash stations.
- Conduct weekly shop inspections, record/report any issues to maintenance or management. Conduct monthly sling and chain inspections. Conduct crane and forklift inspections.
- Maintain OSHA 300 and 300A logs along with divisional safety program documents. Handle all claims, investigations, mitigations, of any safety incidents.
Inspect, gather data, ensure compliance, and submit reports for required environmental programs. Conduct employee training in environmental compliance and education. Keep up to date on changes in regulations and/or programs as necessary to maintain compliance.
Have education, experience, certifications or be willing to obtain such certifications that cover the following regulations:
- RCRA – Hazardous Waste & Universal Waste
- NPDES – Stormwater Permit and Stormwater Pollution Prevention
- NESHAP – 6X Air Permit
- TIER II – Emergency Planning
- TRI (Toxic Release Inventory) Form R
- Special Waste Permits (County)
- Annual Spray Permit (State)
Degrees/Certificates: OSHA certification. Associates Degree preferred, or relevant experience.
Physical Skill and Effort ...
- Work requires a few simple but rapid hand operations, with simple and easy muscular movements.
- Position requires extensive standing and walking as part of normal job duties.
- Position will generally cover office type hours as it allows this position to work with both first and second shift.
- Normal plant, shop, field, or field office conditions.
- From time to time, slightly disagreeable features; negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions.
- Limited manual dexterity required, but on occasion the ability to perform the production functions involved for training or emergency purposes.
- More frequent exposure to disagreeable features, possibility of accidents of a minor nature requiring first aid.
