Description
Executive Director is a mission-driven, strategic, and relationship-oriented leader responsible for driving the growth, visibility, and impact of the National Center for Urban Solutions (NCUS) and its affiliated organizations, including the African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA) and NCUS TEC. The ED supports executing organizational strategy, strengthening partnerships, enhancing operational excellence, scaling programs, and ensuring NCUS continues to deliver high-quality, community-centered services in the region.
This role requires a dynamic, solutions-focused leader who thrives in fast-moving environments, builds high-performing teams, and understands the intersection of community wellness, workforce training, and urban solutions.

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth
Executive Director is a mission-driven, strategic, and relationship-oriented leader responsible for driving the growth, visibility, and impact of the National Center for Urban Solutions (NCUS) and its affiliated organizations, including the African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA) and NCUS TEC. The ED supports executing organizational strategy, strengthening partnerships, enhancing operational excellence, scaling programs, and ensuring NCUS continues to deliver high-quality, community-centered services in the region.
This role requires a dynamic, solutions-focused leader who thrives in fast-moving environments, builds high-performing teams, and understands the intersection of community wellness, workforce training, and urban solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth
- Developing and executing multi-year strategic plans for NCUS, AAMWA, and NCUS TEC.
- Lead growth initiatives, including new market expansion
- Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities, community partnerships, philanthropic investments, and corporate collaborations.
- Strengthen internal systems, processes, and organizational capacity to support long-term sustainability and scalability.
- Oversee core program areas such as workforce development, community health & wellness, digital inclusion, and education-to-career pipelines.
- Ensure alignment across NCUS TEC training programs, AAMWA events, and wellness initiatives, and broader NCUS ecosystem priorities.
- Monitor KPIs, dashboards, outcomes, and program effectiveness to support data-driven decision-making.
- Represent NCUS and its affiliated organizations in public forums, media opportunities, and community events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, higher education partners, philanthropic organizations, workforce boards, government agencies, and community leaders.
- Support fundraising efforts through relationship building, proposal development, presentations, and stewardship.
- Model NCUS’ mission, values, and people-centered culture.
- Foster a positive, equitable, high-performance work environment that emphasizes accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Support professional development pathways to strengthen staff capacity and retention.
- Enhance NCUS’ public profile through storytelling, strategic communications, and consistent messaging.
- Work collaboratively with the Communications & PR Director to elevate community impact, partner successes, and organizational wins.
- Advance community awareness campaigns, wellness events, and workforce initiatives that build trust and visibility in the urban community.
- Assist in developing and managing budgets across NCUS, AAMWA, and NCUS TEC.
- Provide oversight for grants, contracts, and compliance requirements.
- Promote strong operational systems to support high-quality program delivery and outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, nonprofit leadership, education, or related field
- 4-5 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit, workforce development, community engagement, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated success managing teams, building partnerships, and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Strong understanding of urban communities, workforce pipeline development, and equity-driven programming.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Experience working with government agencies, workforce boards, philanthropic partners, and higher education institutions.
- Familiarity with health & wellness initiatives, digital equity, career training programs, or community-based service delivery models.
- Grant writing, fundraising, and budget management experience.
- Regular engagement in community events, wellness initiatives, employer meetings, and regional activities.
